Benito Mussolini was growing up in a poor family, his mother was a Catholic school teacher, and his father was blacksmith, he later on would work with his father after he was old enough to. Mussolini was intelligent, as well as a troublemaker as a kid, so his parents sent him to a monk-run school, in the school Benito Mussolini often got into fights, until he got expelled from the school. Growing up Mussolini was surrounded by the ideas of socialism, republicanism, and communism, Mussolini was a socialist, until he got expelled and broke off ties from the group.
Rise To Power:
In 1915, Mussolini joined the Italian army 5 months after Italy was dragged into World War I. Mussolini was successful in the army, he rose to the rank of corporal, but in 1917 Mussolini was wounded by a mortar bomb, which ended his time in the military. Mussolini's rise to power happened during political and economic chaos in Italy , where he would attempt to go into a senate seat, representing the Fascist, but was unsuccessful. In 1921 the Fascist party created a union with the Popolare party to get rid of the Socialists, this caused the Fascist party to gain 35 out of the 535 seats. Mussolini had ordered a siege of Rome on October 28, he was later called to the place to form a new government. Mussolini then gave four seats of the cabinet to Fascists, which would then cause the senate to give full power to Mussolini. To ensure power even more, he had set up a law that the party with the most votes would get 2/3 of the seats in senate, which caused Mussolini to start creating his dictatorship
