Brief Summary
Emperor Hirohito had taken the throne through a time of financial crisis and increasing military power through government. He was Emperor in Japan during World War II. He had attempted to cooperate with Britain and U.S. Instead he had no choice but to attack Pearl Harbor and go to war with the U.S. Despite the lack of enthusiasm to go war he did favor his army and navy. But the defeat of Japan was clearly being shown through the government being divided by military leaders. After the atomic bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki he made a radio broadcast showing surrender. Later, he had died of cancer on January 7th, 1989

Interview with Hirohito
A while ago i had gotten a chance to speak with Hirohito, Emperor of Japan. We had spoken about World War II and its causes. First thing we had spoken about was why he had bombed Pearl Harbor and what had led him to do it. In reality this man had no power. Civilians and Military Officials were deciding on the national policy. He had attempted to cooperate with Britain and United States, but he was overwhelmed and decided to bomb Pearl Harbor. This led to war between the two of them. This had affected the USA through it not being ready for the attack. This led to USA declaring war on Japan, then Germany and Italy declared war on USA.
I had then asked him why did he bomb Pearl Harbor. He had replied with a little laugh and said he had no control over this. The military leaders had wanted to attack the Island. These man had wanted the land for themselves. So over talk between the military leaders and the civilians it had become a unanimous decision to bomb Pearl Harbor. Hirohito had no control over what to do in the war. He said he was ed on by others and followed what they said to do.
I had then asked him what kind of role did Japan play in World War II. Japan was mostly known for being a Axis power with Germany and Italy to oppose the Allied Forces. Two goals for Japan since they were a small island was imperialism and to gather resources. He had gained some land from India but had then lost it to USA again. Making his country seem small and out numbered by the other countries.
Finally I had asked him what were the consequences of bombing Pearl Harbor. He stated he knew this would lead to war but he couldn't stop it. He had mostly favored peace in the war. He was too overwhelmed with the people speaking with him to get him to go bomb Pearl Harbor but it was too late to realize what he had done. He was known for being a weak man and not caring for the war but to end it. But he had listened to his men and went on with there decisions.
